The Town of Cobourg is inviting residents to the second annual Battle of the Badges charity hockey game on Saturday, March 1, at the Cobourg Community Centre.
This family-friendly event will see the Cobourg Fire Department and Cobourg Police Service go head-to-head on the ice, with all proceeds supporting Big Brothers Big Sisters of South-West Durham and Northumberland as they celebrate 50 years of youth mentorship.
Cobourg Fire’s Acting Captain Matthew Diminie reflects on last year’s event.
Diminie tells us doors open at 5 pm.
The night kicks off with an Interactive Fun Zone, featuring activities for all ages with a minimum $2 donation to participate. DJ Joel Wesley will provide music, and local mascots Chippy the Squirrel, Chase the Police Dog, and Sparky the Fire Dog will be available for photos.
The ceremonial puck drop takes place at 7 p.m., marking the start of the highly anticipated hockey game.
Diminie tells us more.
Attendees can also enjoy live performances from Just Dance Northumberland, a 50/50 draw, and refreshments from local vendors.
Admission is free, but donations are encouraged at the door.
