Belleville police say a townhouse fire sent three people to hospital to be treated for smoke inhalation, and that the investigation into the cause of the blaze is ongoing.
On Sunday, Feb. 2, at about 1:10 a.m., police, fire and paramedics responded to North Park Street for a residential fire.
Three people from the residence were transported to hospital for smoke inhalation, while a number of nearby neighbours were evacuated from their residences for safety reasons, said police.
Emergency services worked with the Canadian Red Cross and victim services to facilitate emergency shelter arrangements for those who were displaced, noted police.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation, and the Office of the Ontario Fire Marshal has been contacted, said police, on Monday, Feb. 3, 2025
