The City of Quinte West and public health have confirmed a boil water advisory is in effect immediately for all Trenton water service customers until further notice.
“This advisory is in response to emergency water main repair work being done by the city,” said city officials, in an updated release on Thursday, Feb. 6, 2025.
Earlier, the city had confirmed a water main break, though few details were initially shared. In a subsequent update, it was confirmed that Hastings, Prince Edward Public Health has issued a boil water advisory.
“This advisory affects all Trenton water service customers, all Murray Ward customers, and customers in Carrying Place, Prince Edward Estates, Kingfisher Cove, and (the) Carrying Place/Consecon water distribution system in Prince Edward County,” reads the city’s release.
The city has also provided a map so residents can see the affected Quinte West areas.
All residents in the affected areas are also being asked to conserve water and avoid any non-essential water use until the boil water advisory is lifted.
In short, impacted customers need to boil their water before consumption. All water for consumption should be brought to a rapid rolling boil and boiled for one minute – then let the water cool before consuming, reads the city’s release.
The city has also provided additional guidelines for more information on how to use water safely when a boil water advisory is issued.
For more information about water safety, residents can also contact Hastings, Prince Edward Public Health at 613-966-5500.
The city has also noted that bulk water services for bulk haulers at the Trenton and Bayside bulk water stations are not available. Coin-operated water stations will be unavailable at the Trenton location. Bulk water services for haulers remain available at the Frankford/Batawa bulk water station (located 65 Parry Dr., Batawa.)
People who experience low water pressure are being asked to notify the city at 613-392-2841.
Further updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
Prince Edward County has now also confirmed a boil water advisory is in effect for all customers connected to the Consecon/Carrying Place drinking water system.
