Alnwick/Haldimand Township has approved its 2025 municipal budget, featuring a 4.7% general levy increase and a new 2% Infrastructure Levy, bringing the total property tax impact to 6.7%.
Mayor John Logel says the budget reflects Council’s commitment to community priorities, balancing essential services, infrastructure, and economic challenges.
“This budget is a reflection of our commitment to the residents,” said Logel. “We are addressing infrastructure needs while being mindful of economic challenges.”
A significant portion of the budget is dedicated to infrastructure improvements, including repairs to roads, community centres, and public buildings. Key projects include upgrades to the Centreton Community Centre roof, road work on Roseneath Landing Road, and new air conditioning for Alnwick Civic Centre.
Funds will also go toward enhancing resident services, such as building permit applications, property severances, and recreational programming.
The budget aims to close the gap between aging infrastructure and available funding, ensuring long-term sustainability.
