The Northumberland Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has arrested and charged a second person following an ongoing investigation into a weapons call at a high school in Campbellford.
On February 26, members of the Northumberland Crime Unit, with assistance from the Peterborough-Northumberland Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU), executed a search warrant at a home in Havelock. Police seized multiple firearms, ammunition, and other weapons as part of their investigation.
A 48-year-old woman from Havelock was arrested on March 3. She has been charged with 32 counts of careless storage of a firearm, weapon, prohibited device, or ammunition under the Criminal Code. The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Cobourg at a later date. Authorities have not released her name to protect the identity of a young person involved in the case.
Northumberland OPP say they remain committed to public safety and encourage anyone affected by the incident to seek support. Peterborough-Northumberland Victim Services is available to provide assistance and can be reached at 705-748-0324.
