A federal offender known to frequent the Quinte area and who had unlawfully been at large since March 5, 2025, has been apprehended in New York, says the OPP’s repeat offender parole enforcement squad.
In an update Monday, April 14, 2025, the squad said Cody Butler was found and arrested by Homeland Security in New York, U.S.
Police reported earlier that the accused was known to frequent the Trenton, Belleville and Greater Toronto areas.
According to OPP, Butler is serving a seven-year, 10-month sentence for:
- Two counts of trafficking in a schedule I/II substance.
- Possession of a prohibited/restricted firearm with ammunition.
- Possession of a schedule I/II substance for the purpose of trafficking.
- Two counts of possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000.
- Possession of a weapon – contrary to a prohibition order.
- Theft of motor vehicle.
- Fail to comply with order – at large.
- Possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000.
- Escape or being unlawfully at large without excuse.
- Material benefits for sexual services.
- Assault.
- Unlawfully being in a dwelling house.
- Assault – intentional use of force.
- Mischief.
