
Brighton’s homelessness taskforce meets Thursday, May 1 in-person at the Municipal Centre on Alice Street.
On the agenda is the election of a chair and vice-chair, as well as a review of committee policies, including the code of conduct for local board and committee members, and terms of reference for the new taskforce, which is supposed to bring together service providers, area organizations and other key players to zero in on a community action plan to tackle homelessness in Brighton.
There will also be discussions around the current state of homelessness, including data, stats and trends in the area, as well as resource allocation (collaboration with area organizations), emergency shelter availability and whether there is more of a hyper-local need, mental health and substance abuse services, preventative measures and community engagement efforts.
The meeting starts at 2 p.m.
