The Canadian Mental Health Association Haliburton, Kawartha, Pine Ridge (CMHA HKPR) is preparing for the third annual Change the Cycle fundraising ride, set to return to Nicholls Oval in Peterborough on June 21.
Presenting sponsor Tom’s Heating and Cooling launched the 2025 campaign with a $5,000 donation. The event raises funds for local youth and family mental health services, with this year’s proceeds supporting a newly-constructed initiative called Planet Youth.
CMHA HKPR’s manager of community engagement and education Jack Veitch says the initiative is aimed at prevention and early intervention.
Since launching in 2023, Change the Cycle has raised more than $25,000. Organizers hope to exceed that total this year. Veitch says supporting youth mental health remains a top priority.
Veitch adds that collaboration is vital to ensuring youth and families can access support close to home.
Participants can choose from 4K, 12K or 26K routes along the Rotary Trail. Registration is $20 per person, while children 12 and under can ride for free.
