A Barrie resident has been charged after Quinte West OPP says they followed up on a complaint about a suspected impaired driver of a vessel.
Police said on May 5, 2025, at about 8:30 p.m., they responded to the Ministry of Natural Resources concerning an individual who may have been under the influence of alcohol and operating a vessel.
Following administration of an approved screening device, police said the accused was arrested and transported to the detachment for further testing. Police allege testing determined their blood alcohol levels were above the legal limit.
As a result of the investigation, police said a 63-year-old Barrie resident was charged with operation while impaired – alcohol, and operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus.)
None of these charges have been proven in court.
The accused was released from custody and will appear in Belleville court on May 29, 2025, reported OPP.
The accused also had their licence suspended for 90 days.
