A new online tool aims to make finding and accessing local healthcare easier for residents across Northumberland County.
The Ontario Health Team of Northumberland (OHT-N) has launched a new website – www.ohtnorthumberland.ca – that brings together key health services, resources and contacts on one easy-to-use platform.
The site was created to help patients, families, caregivers and providers better navigate the local healthcare system, especially those without a family doctor or with complex care needs. It includes information on how to connect with mental health and addictions support, senior services, primary care, and specialist care.
Susan Walsh, co-chair of OHT-N and President and CEO of Northumberland Hills Hospital, says the tool was developed in response to direct community feedback.
“We’ve heard from patients and caregivers that navigating services can be challenging,” said Walsh. “This new website was designed to be a trusted, one-stop resource for accessing care and support.”
The site also highlights the work of local healthcare partnerships – such as the expansion of the Rural Outreach Clinic in Colborne – and features regularly updated news about services in the area.
Experience Partner Council chair Suzanne Lawson says the website simplifies what used to be a confusing process.
“Instead of digging through dozens of websites, people now have a single front door to local health services,” Lawson said.
The public is invited to explore the site and share feedback to improve it further.
