Bill Campbell, a well-known figure in the local automotive industry, has once again been nominated for the prestigious Canadian Automobile Dealers Association (CADA) Laureate Award.
The award is considered the highest recognition a dealer can receive in Canada, honouring excellence in business innovation, ambassadorship, and retail operations. For Campbell, this year’s nomination is particularly meaningful as he nears 50 years in the automotive business.
Campbell says his success has hinged on repeat business.
Thomas Cobourg, a family-run dealership, has built its reputation on service and community support. The team has been honoured with the GM President’s Triple Crown Award ten years running and has twice won the national Jack Smith Award for being a top 10 selling dealer in Canada. Their sales staff regularly earn GM Sales Marketing Guild honours, and the dealership is consistently voted a local favourite by customers.
The Cobourg dealership is known for its award-winning sales team, including the current number one Buick GMC volume salesperson in all of Canada, Rob Nicholas.
The Campbell family’s community involvement runs deep, supporting groups like Ed’s House, Rebound Child and Youth Services, Fare Share Food Bank, and Cornerstone Family Violence Prevention Centre.
Bill’s children, Rory and Lara, are also part of the business, helping lead the dealership forward. Lara Campbell highlights why the dealership is so successful.
One long-time customer, Katelyn Moore, summed it up: “My family has been purchasing from Thomas Cobourg longer than I have been alive.”
