Northumberland County is celebrating National Public Works Week in a uniquely Canadian way – with snowplow selfies and a chance to win a local tourism package.
From May 12 to 22, a county snowplow will be making one-day stops in each of Northumberland’s seven municipalities, offering residents a fun opportunity to snap a selfie and enter a draw for a “Northumberlanding” experience package for two. Each selfie submitted through an online form at Northumberland.ca/PWW will count as one contest entry.
“This initiative is a great way to recognize the hardworking Public Works professionals that support our community year-round,” said Denise Marshall, Director of Public Works. “It’s also a fun way for residents to explore their area and connect with a key part of our municipal operations.”
The plow will be on-site from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. in Port Hope on May 12, Hamilton Township on May 13, Alnwick/Haldimand on May 14, Cobourg from May 15 to 19, Cramahe on May 20, Brighton on May 21, and Trent Hills on May 22.
The “Northumberlanding” prize will highlight some of the best tourism experiences the region has to offer. The winner will be selected on May 30.
National Public Works Week, held annually in May, honours the essential services and staff that maintain municipal infrastructure such as roads, bridges, water systems and snow removal.
