Northumberland OPP say a Trent Hills resident is facing weapon charges after an initial medical–related call in Brighton.
On Thursday, May 8, 2025, at about 8:20 a.m., OPP said officers responded to a report of a person needing medical attention near a residence on Meade Street in the Municipality of Brighton. EMS also responded to help the individual, added police.
Police said pepper spray was allegedly found on the person, and as a result, they were taken into custody. Police said no other items were seized.
Following medical care, the accused was transported to a local detachment, said police.
As a result of the investigation, police said a 28-year-old Trent Hills resident was charged with unauthorized possession of a weapon and possession of a firearm or ammunition, contrary to a prohibition order.
None of these charges have been proven in court.
The accused is set to appear in Cobourg court at a later date.
No other details were released by police.
