
An investigation is continuing after a stolen vehicle was engulfed in flames on Hwy. 401 in Quinte West, say OPP.
Emergency crews – including Quinte West OPP, members of OPP’s traffic incident management and enforcement team (TIME), and the fire department – were dispatched to the call just after 7 a.m. Thursday, May 15, 2025.
The vehicle was fully engulfed in flames on the eastbound shoulder of the highway at mile marker 517, reported OPP.
“There were no individuals in the vehicle or at the scene,” said police, adding that subsequent investigation revealed the vehicle was stolen earlier from the Durham Region area.
Police are asking anyone with information about this investigation to reach out to the Durham Regional Police Service.
