
As part of its manufacturing process, Cobourg-based Rusco Windows and Doors is forever sourcing materials, be that steel, aluminum, glass or plastic, and the associated components that go into its end products.
For company owner Dan Burnagiel, the quest to buy Canadian-made materials isn’t new. Rather, it’s a well-established quest that he has stayed true well before the imposition of tariffs put a wrench in the supply chain works.
Over the many years since its 1937 founding, Rusco has faced down and met many challenges to remain viable while manufacturing and supplying security screen products, storm doors and entrance systems at competitive prices. Its bid to remain an industry leader now has Burganiel re-focused on sourcing more Canadian-produced materials in the face of this latest challenge.
While consumers’ desire to buy Canadian is more prevalent, Burganiel says he has been hearing other considerations from his customers, which Rusco fully delivers on.
