It’s time to start thinking about the return of the John Smylie Memorial Golf Classic – and there is some kick-off fun in the works for this weekend in support of Trenton Memorial Hospital’s ED expansion.
Smylie’s Your Independent Grocer in Trenton is once again teaming up with the hospital foundation as the title sponsor for the tourney, which is set to make its return later this summer. The tournament will also support the hospital foundation’s “Emerge Stronger” campaign and emergency department expansion.
To kick-off this year’s tournament, Smylie’s is hosting a charity barbecue and TMHF Youth Council community yard sale this Saturday, May 31 in the parking lot at grocery store. The barbecue is from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., and the yard sale is from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.
The golf tourney is set for Friday, Aug. 8 at Oak Hills Golf Club in Stirling.
In 2024, more than $106,000 was raised and there were over 220 participants.
You can learn more about the tourney, which will feature foursome play, golf contests, food and beverage tastings, live entertainment, and more, via TMHF’s website. Registration and sponsorship information is also available via the site.
The hospital community is hoping businesses, organizations, and residents will answer the call and get involved.
Those interested in registering a team or people with inquiries can also contact TMHF’s Makayla Mior via mmior@tmhfoundation.com or call 613-392-2540 ext. 5867.
