
Quinte West OPP say an investigation is continuing after a business on Old. Hwy. 2 was hit by a break-in and arson overnight.
On Friday, May 30, 2025, police issued a release saying the night prior, just before 10:30 p.m., emergency crews responded to a restaurant on Old Hwy. 2, east of Burns Avenue.
Police said their initial investigation has confirmed that two individuals busted into the shop, with a fire breaking out moments later.
The two people were dressed in black and were wearing masks – both appeared to be about five-foot-six to five-foot-eight, reported OPP, adding the accused fled the scene in a grey Nissan.
A multi-agency investigation is now underway involving the Quinte West OPP crime unit, and the Office of the Fire Marshal, with help from OPP’s forensic identification services unit.
Investigators are calling on anyone with information – including any relevant dashcam or doorbell video footage – to reach out to OPP at 1-888-310-1122. Police provided a reference incident number of E250685422.
