Northumberland OPP is calling on the public for help after an alleged break-and-enter incident in the Township of Cramahe in the Dingman Road area.
According to police, on Thursday, June 5, 2025, at about 3:10 p.m., police responded to a report of a break-and-enter at a Dingman Road address.
The caller told police that at about 2:40 p.m. an individual attempted to gain entry to the residence prior to being disturbed and leaving the area, reported OPP.
A local scenes-of-crime officer (SOCO) also responded to help with the investigation.
Meanwhile, also on Thursday, at about 2:20 p.m., police said they received a report about an abandoned vehicle partially submerged off Pogue Road. The caller said the engine was running and the vehicle unoccupied, said police.
There was an increased police presence in the area as crews attempted to locate the driver and any occupants, explained OPP.
Officers reportedly spoke to an individual nearby on Maple Grove Road in relation to the incident, and said no charges have been laid as of yet.
The canine unit was also called to help with a search of the area near the abandoned vehicle.
Investigators are following lines of inquiry as to whether this incident is linked to the break-and-enter, noted police, in an update on Friday, June 6.
Police are also asking if anyone witnessed any suspicious persons or vehicles in the Pogue and/or Dingman roads area to reach out to investigators by calling 1-888-310-1122. Crime Stoppers is an anonymous option.
These investigations are ongoing, and updates will be provided when available, said police.
No other details were provided.
