A single-vehicle crash in Cramahe over the weekend has led to charges for an Ajax man.
Northumberland OPP said on June 14, shortly after 3 a.m., officers responded to reports of the crash on County Road 25 in the Township of Cramahe.
When officers arrived on scene, police said they found a damaged guardrail and passenger vehicle on the road.
EMS were dispatched by police who suspected the driver sustained minor injuries, reported OPP.
Officers then started an impaired driving investigation, resulting in the accused being taken into custody to undergo further tests at a nearby detachment, said police.
As a result of the investigation, police said a 36-year-old Ajax man was charged with dangerous operation and failure or refusal to comply with a demand.
Northumberland OPP is once again reminding the public that failing to provide a suitable sample of breath or blood following an officer’s demand carries the same consequences as operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs, and operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus.)
None of these charges have been proven in court.
In addition to being dished out a future court date, the accused had their licence suspended for 90 days, and the vehicle was impounded for 14 days.
