A powerful new six-part docu-series, Legion of Honour, is now streaming on Bell Fibe TV1, spotlighting the enduring legacy of Cobourg’s Royal Canadian Legion Branch 133.
The series explores how local veterans, volunteers, and Legion members preserve remembrance and support their community, with moving stories from both the past and present. Viewers will learn about notable figures like Fern Blodgett Sunde, the first Canadian woman to serve as a wireless radio operator at sea during the Second World War and Don Smoke, Alderville First Nation’s oldest living veteran.
Branch 133 President Janet Kyle said, “Each segment has its own value, lifting remembrance, valour and dignity with a look ahead to the bright future of Branch 133 in Cobourg.”
Produced by Mark Johnston of Eelay Media and Graham Beer of Cobourg Media, the series also spotlights the Legion’s support for youth, including local army, air, and sea cadets. From the dedication of the Ladies’ Auxiliary to the proud tradition of the Cobourg Legion Pipes and Drums, Branch 133 remains a vital service hub for the community as it approaches its 100th anniversary.
“The stories of our veterans and members of the Canadian Armed Forces are a source of inspiration for us all,” said Beer. “I believe Canadians will be moved to learn more and support their local Legion branch.”
You can watch Legion of Honour now on Bell Fibe TV channel 1 or the Fibe TV app.
