
Government services and stores
On Canada Day, all government offices and municipal services will be closed. Most liquor stores won’t be operating, though some Beer Stores in select locations remain open. In Cobourg, the Beer Store will be open from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Metro (Cobourg) is open 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., Walmart runs its usual hours (7 a.m. to 10 p.m.), and Shoppers Drug Mart in both Cobourg and Port Hope will be open from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. To avoid inconvenience, please confirm hours for any services or stores before heading out. Sobey’s and No Frills in Brighton are both operating Tuesday.
Transit services
Cobourg Transit will run a regular schedule on Tuesday, July 1. Port Hope Transit’s Routes A and B will operate on a holiday schedule from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and are free to ride—offering a convenient way to enjoy downtown festivities during the Walton Street reconstruction.
Quinte Transit is not operating for the holiday and will resume regular hours on Wednesday.
Municipal closures and emergency contacts
All municipal administrative buildings, recreation centres, and library branches will also be closed on Tuesday, July 1. Services will resume Wednesday, July 2.

Residents are reminded about fireworks regulations and the requirement for burn permits (with conditions) within local municipalities.
Canada Day celebrations
Cobourg
Join the Canada Day Waterfront Festival! The opening ceremony at Victoria Park Bandshell begins at noon, and the celebration culminates with fireworks over the harbour at 10 p.m.—a quintessential way to mark the day.
Port Hope
Port Hope has a full day of celebrations, starting with the Canada Day parade at 11 a.m. (on a modified route). Memorial Park will buzz with a car show, live entertainment, yoga sessions and more—with fireworks lighting up East Beach at 10:15 p.m.
Brighton
Brighton’s Canada Day celebration returns to King Edward Park with a full day of free, family-friendly fun, starting with a pancake breakfast at 8 a.m., a parade at 10:45, and fireworks at 10 p.m. Activities include live music, bouncy castles, face painting, food vendors and more.
