Belleville police say they’ve charged a Colborne resident with impaired driving and resisting arrest.
Last Friday, June 27, at about 3:26 p.m., the Belleville Police Service said police helped Prince Edward County OPP following a report of a man who appeared “extremely intoxicated” getting into a vehicle in Rossmore.
Police said the suspect vehicle was located in the Hwy. 62 and County Road 3 area and was observed driving erratically.
An officer attempted a traffic stop, and police reported that the driver swerved across the roadway and onto the curb at a nearby intersection and then allegedly refused to exit the vehicle when being placed under arrest.
Police said the accused was then transported to the police station where breath samples were taken.
As a result of the investigation, police said a 36-year-old Colborne man was charged with operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus,) and resisting arrest.
The accused also had his licence suspended for 90 days and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.
None of these charges have been proven in court. The accused is set to appear in court in August.
