A Cobourg woman is facing charges after a Northumberland OPP intimate partner violence investigation, say police.
On Thursday, July 3, 2025, at about 9:10 p.m., police said they responded to a disturbance report at an Alnwick/Haldimand location.
Upon arrival, police said one person was taken into custody.
“There were no serious injuries involved,” reported police.
However, as a result of the investigation, police said a 49-year-old Cobourg woman was charged with assault – spousal, assault with a weapon – spousal, and uttering threats – cause death or bodily harm.
None of these charges have been proven in court. The accused will appear in Cobourg court in September, reported OPP.
“Victims of intimate partner violence are not alone,” added police. “If you need support or know someone (who) does, there are local resources here to help.”
Victim Services of Peterborough and Northumberland is a local resource and is accessible by calling 1-888-822-7729 where information remains anonymous and confidential. When in an immediate crisis, call 911, added police.
