Quinte West OPP says police have allegedly seized cash, fentanyl, Xanax, a forged document and an unauthorized weapon after the arrest of a 26-year-old Quebec resident.
According to OPP, on Friday, July 18, 2025, at around noon, uniform officers, members of OPP’s emergency response team and canine unit, along with members of the Belleville Police Service, arrested the accused at the Quinte Mall in Belleville following an alleged incident that occurred in Quinte West.
Police didn’t provide any more specifics around the incident in Quinte West.
As a result of the investigation, police said the 26-year-old Quebec resident was charged with knowledge of unauthorized possession of a weapon, possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5,000, trafficking in a schedule I substance – opioid (other than heroin), trafficking in a schedule IV substance – other drugs, possession of a forged document with intent, and five counts of failure to comply with probation.
None of these charges have been proven in court.
In a release on their investigation issued Monday, July 21, 2025, police said the accused was remanded into custody and will appear in Belleville court on Wednesday, July 23, 2025.
No other details were released by police.
