The Ontario government is investing $260 million in the sixth round of its Skills Development Fund Training Stream to support training and upskilling across the province.
The new round is open to a range of organizations and aims to prepare workers for roles in manufacturing, healthcare, construction, automotive, and skilled trades.
Minister of Labour, Immigration, Training and Skills Development – and Northumberland-Peterborough South MPP David Piccini – made the announcement Tuesday, July 29, 2025.
Piccini adds this is a significant step forward in building a workforce that can meet all challenges – and the investment is crucial for the economy.
Employers, employment service and training providers, labour unions, business and industry organizations, hospitals, Indigenous Band offices, Indigenous skills and employment training agreement holders, service system managers and other community organizations eligible for funding can submit their proposals through Transfer Payment Ontario.
Applications will close on Oct. 1.
Piccini also announced more than $20 million in funding from the previous round to train nearly 5,000 people in sectors such as hospitality, health care, and trades.
