A two-day “Code Grey” situation at Quinte Health hospitals has been resolved, say officials.
In an update the afternoon of Wednesday, July 30, 2025, Quinte Health officials said the situation – prompted by a hard drive failure – has now been resolved.
Earlier Wednesday, Quinte Health stated the outage had prompted staff to cancel some non-emergency procedures – those under diagnostic imaging and some non-elective surgeries – and warned of slower than normal services in other areas like emergency departments, with staff reverting to paper-based operations with the computer system down.
“We are now in the process of rescheduling appointments that were affected by the outage,” said Quinte Health, in its latest update. “Our booking team is working diligently to contact patients and reschedule all diagnostic imaging appointments that were cancelled over the past two days.”
What’s more, officials noted that only one surgery ended up being cancelled due to the system failure, with that procedure now rebooked.
President and CEO Stacey Daub is praising staff for their perseverance.
“I am incredibly proud of the teamwork and resilience shown by everyone at Quinte Health,” said Daub. “Each team member – from IT to our clinical and non-clinical staff – stepped up in ways that truly reflect our commitment to patient care.
“Their adaptability, dedication and problem-solving have been nothing short of inspiring. This is the heart of who we are as an organization – stronger together, supporting one another and continuing to deliver care to our community,” continued Daub.
Quinte Health is also thanking area partners such as Lennox & Addington County General Hospital, Kingston Health Sciences Centre and Hastings-Quinte Paramedic Services for their help during the outage, as well as the community for its continued patience as staff work to resume full operations.
