Northumberland Fare Share Food Bank is rolling out a new mobile resource in Brighton as soaring food and living prices continue to put pressure on families across the county.
The food bank has been taking its “Mobile Market” on the road at various locations in Northumberland – and now with council approval will be rolling into Brighton on Fridays from 1 to 2:30 p.m. at the Brighton Public Library at 35 Alice St.
Volunteers will be sharing free bread and fresh produce.
The mobile food bank has already been visiting library locations in Warkworth, Cold Springs, Bewdley, Roseneath, Grafton, Centreton, and Cramahe.
Earlier this month, Brighton council approved a request from the food bank to use/park at a municipal lot on Alice Street to distribute free foods through its “Mobile Market” weekly.
Staff backed the ask in the municipal parking lot on Fridays to complement current Brighton Fare Share Food Bank hours.
All Brightonians need to bring are their own bags.
