A key road in Quinte West will be closed for several months as construction continues on the city’s largest water and sewer project.
Beginning Monday, August 25, 2nd Dug Hill Road will close to through traffic between Highway 2 and Loyalist Parkway. The closure is expected to remain in place until the spring of 2026 while crews carry out a major installation as part of the Trenton trunk sewer project.
Detours will be in place for both northbound and southbound traffic. Southbound drivers will be directed west onto Highway 2, south onto County Road 40, and east onto Loyalist Parkway. Northbound traffic will follow the reverse route. The stretch of road will remain open for local traffic only.
The Trenton trunk sewer project is a multi-year initiative to expand sewer and water capacity in the city’s west end. Once completed, the new trunk line will extend from downtown to 2nd Dug Hill Road and will support development for up to 5,000 new homes. Work on the system is expected to continue through 2027.
