The City of Quinte West has rolled out free public Wi-Fi at more than a dozen locations, giving residents and visitors a convenient way to stay connected while enjoying local parks, facilities and open spaces.
The service is now available at over 13 sites across the city, including Centennial Park, the Duncan McDonald Memorial Community Gardens and Mount Pelion.
City officials say the public Wi-Fi project supports long-term goals of improving connectivity and digital access. The initiative was identified as a priority in the city’s Community Safety and Wellbeing Plan, which emphasizes building healthier, more connected communities.
“Launching public Wi-Fi access is another step forward in making Quinte West more connected and accessible for everyone,” said Quinte West Mayor Jim Harrison. “Whether you’re working remotely at the park, attending a city event or just out for a walk, having access to free Wi-Fi helps people stay in touch and informed.”
The network includes safeguards to promote safe browsing, with restrictions on explicit and inappropriate content. The city plans to continue raising awareness of the new service through seasonal guides, park directories and social media promotion.
Residents and visitors can now log on and make use of the network while attending events, relaxing outdoors or exploring local attractions.
