Quinte West residents still have time to enter the city’s “switch to win” e-billing sign-up contest and get a shot at netting up to $4,000 off property tax bills and up to $1,500 towards water/sewer bills.
The contest is centred around the push to go paperless, with the city saying the switch to electronic billing – commonly referred to as e-billing – can also lead to serious overall long-term savings.
According to the city, e-billing helps reduce printing, postage and processing costs, which contributes to savings over time.
“Currently, the city spends over $150,000 mailing out more than 100,000 property tax and water/sewer bills annually,” said city staff.
For 2025, city officials estimate achieving a 20 per cent increase in e-billing enrollment, with more than $25,000 in savings as a result.
Ultimately, achieving a higher rate of e-billing means less taxpayer money spent on paper and mail, while also enabling a more efficient service for customers, and reducing the city’s environmental footprint, continued officials.
The city announced its contest earlier this summer, encouraging existing paper-billing customers to visit quintewest.ca/e-billing to complete online e-billing registration forms before the contest closes on Sept. 15, 2025. At that time, officials noted that eligible customers who had already switched to e-billing would also automatically be entered to win.
By switching to e-billing, Quinte West customers will also enjoy the convenience of getting municipal property tax and water/sewer bills directly in their email inbox, avoiding postage delays, and having easy access to view, download and print bills from anywhere they check their email, said the city, when announcing the contest.
In terms of contest eligibility, the city has noted the following: Registrants must be an individual resident in Ontario and 18 years of age or older; be the account holder of a valid City of Quinte West property tax account and/or a water/sewer account, and the switch to e-billing must be done before the contest closes on Sept. 15, 2025. Business and commercial account holders aren’t eligible for the contest.
One contest winner will get up to $4,000 towards their property tax account from all eligible tax account entries, and one person will be selected to win up to $1,500 towards their water/sewer bill, said the city, adding the winners will be contacted by city staff after the contest closes.
The city has additional information on e-billing, contest details, terms and conditions online.
