A two-vehicle crash has led to careless and impaired driving charges, says Northumberland OPP.
On Sept. 17, 2025, at about 5:25 p.m., OPP said emergency crews responded to a two-vehicle collision in the Oak Ridges Drive and County Road 28 area.
Non-serious injuries were reported.
After speaking with one of the drivers involved, police said an impaired driving investigation was initiated, resulting in the individual being taken into custody and transferred to a nearby detachment for further tests.
As a result of the investigation, police said a 31-year-old Township of Cavan Monaghan resident was charged with operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs, operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus,) careless driving and driving a motor vehicle with an open container of liquor.
None of these charges have been proven in court.
The accused will appear in Cobourg court at a later date. Police said their licence was also suspended for 90 days, and the vehicle impounded for seven days.
