A Cobourg Collegiate Institute student is inviting the community to satisfy their sweet tooth for a good cause.
Grade 12 student Margaret is wrapping up her International Baccalaureate Program’s Creativity, Activity and Service (CAS) project with a “Baked with Love” fundraiser on Saturday, September 27 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at 32 Glen Watford Road in Cobourg.
Margaret says her CAS project is focused on giving back.
Margaret tells us her summer efforts inspired the bake sale.
Proceeds and donations from the bake sale will go to Transition House and Cornerstone Family Violence Prevention Centre, two local organizations that provide shelter and support to people experiencing homelessness or violence. Visitors are invited to bring clothing, toiletries, personal hygiene items or cash donations in exchange for baked goods.
Margaret tells us what people can expect on September 27th.
The event poster includes a QR code linking to the charities’ wish-list items, making it easier for residents to choose what to bring as a donation, though cash is also an option.
Margaret says she hopes the project will help raise awareness and support for two organizations making a difference in the Cobourg community.
