YMCA Northumberland is calling on the community to submit nominations for its annual Peace Medal Awards, celebrating 37 years of recognizing peacemakers in Northumberland County.
The awards honour youth, adults and groups promoting participation, empathy, advocacy, community and empowerment locally and globally.
Peace Medal recipients will be celebrated at the annual Peace Medal Breakfast on Nov. 20 at the Best Western Plus Cobourg Inn and Convention Centre.
Eunice Kirkpatrick, CEO of YMCA Northumberland, encourages residents to nominate those making a positive impact.
“The YMCA Peace Medals are our way of shining a light on their efforts,” she said.
Nominations can be submitted online, via email at Kathryn.Harrison@nrt.ymca.ca or dropped off the the Cobourg Y. Submissions are due by Nov. 3 at 5 p.m. Of note: YMCA staff, professionals paid to do peacemaking work and self-nominations are not eligible.
