
Brighton’s Blue Dragons have done it again, capturing the Bay of Quinte Invitational cross-country overall team title.
Held at Dunnett Orchards in Brighton, East Northumberland Secondary School (ENSS) athletes also had several standout individual performances across several divisions, building on additional wins already this season at the Heart Lake Conservation Park and Trinity Invitational Harrier meets.
For the senior boys, in the six-kilometre, the Dragons swept all four top spots, and more, leading to an impressive team victory.
Owen McDougall took the top honours with a first-place finish, followed closely by Sullivan Tait in second, Nate Boomhouwer in third and Jack Turner in fourth. Chase Eddy wasn’t far behind in seventh place, and Orion Kovacs in 16th, Ethan McDougall in 17th, Alex Botting in 42nd, and John Trescher in 58th also contributed to the overall team win.
The novice girls also took home a first-place overall win in the four-kilometre. Layla Delport led the way in eighth place, followed by Nicola Turner in 14th, Ellie Shutt in 15th, Jayla Orr in 37th, Ginny Goolsby in 45th, and Sophie Lawlor in 46th.
The senior girls also weren’t playing in the 6K capturing a third-place finish overall.
Anastasiia Syrovatska continued to lead the way for the girls coming in fifth. Caris Hennessy followed in 24th, Kora Ferguson in 25th, Chloe Nichols in 27th, Josalynn Scott in 33rd, Rachel Horton in 37th, and Addison Hill in 45th.
The junior boys also performed well, securing a fourth-place finish overall led by Charlie Grills and Danish Kuhafa who took sixth and seventh in five-kilometre race. Casimir Iwan followed in 16th place, Josh Haveman in 34th, Maverick Berry in 58th, and Tyler Trescher in 61st.
The junior girls also claimed a fourth-place overall team finish. ENSS’ Roslyn Marshall led the way in seventh and Raya VanEgmond followed in 14th, then Maddy O’Sullivan in 17th, Lily Hoole in 25th and Trinity Rivard in 34th.
The novice boys netted a sixth-place overall finish in the four-kilometre trek. Finn Davis in 23rd, Jackson Doty in 26th, Princeton Fleming in 38th, and Sawyer Thain in 47th secured the title.
