Police say they’ve made an identification after human remains were found earlier this year in Tyendinaga Mohawk Territory and determined that no foul play was involved in the death.
As previously reported by OPP, on May 17, officers with Prince Edward County OPP responded to the discovery of human remains at a location near Hwy. 49, between Old Hwy. 2 and Lower Slash Road.
“The deceased was male from Tyendinaga Mohawk Territory, who would have been 69 at the time of his death in 2019,” said police, in an update. “The investigation, in conjunction with the Office of the Chief Coroner and Tyendinaga police, has concluded that there was no foul play involved in the death.”
Police said the individual’s name and other personal details aren’t being released out of respect for the deceased and his family.
No other details were provided by police.
