The Ontario government has announced $635,000 in funding support for the inaugural Promise of Music festival, which will take place across the Greater Toronto area from October 6 to 10.
According to the province, the week-long event is being organized by the Glenn Gould Foundation and is expected to draw more than 50,000 attendees, including musicians, educators, artists, and cultural leaders from more than 20 countries. The festival will feature performances, films, workshops, and public discussions highlighting the social impact of music and music education.
Brian Levine, CEO of the Glenn Gould Foundation, said the event reflects the power of music to help create healthier and more inclusive communities.
Established in 1983, the Glenn Gould Foundation commemorates the life and career of Canadian pianist and composer Glenn Gould, and promotes creativity through the arts.
The province says its support for the festival is part of a broader investment of nearly $200 million in Ontario’s tourism sector in 2024-25, including funding for festivals and events throughout the province.
