The Municipality of Brighton has released additional information for residents when it comes to navigating ongoing Canada Post interruptions.
Of note, the municipality said it’s unable to mail out water and wastewater bills, and as a result, is asking residents to contact the Municipal Office to get totals for their October bills.
However, staff are also urging residents to be patient as the municipality is experiencing a high volume of calls and requests and there may be delays.
In terms of paying bills, there are alternative payment options available for both utility and property tax bills, added staff.
Options available to residents include paying by cash, cheque or debit at 35 Alice St. In-person and through the drop box – but residents are asked not to include cash in the drop box. Payments can also be made at residents’ financial institutions, through internet or telephone banking, automatic withdrawal or via the municipality’s website through a VISA payment.
Officials also continue to encourage residents to sign up for e-billing for future notices but noted that the system doesn’t support sending previous bills electronically. In other words, if residents recently registered for e-billing, October water and wastewater bills won’t be sent this way.
Signing up for e-billing services can be done via the municipality’s website.
When it comes to planning, building and licensing-related work or other time-sensitive documents, staff said those documents can be dropped off at the planning department at 67 Sharp Rd. between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Monday to Friday.
Residents with questions can also reach out to municipal staff at 613-475-0670.
