The City of Quinte West is calling on residents to help shape its first-ever fire master-plan, which will guide development over the next decade.
To encourage residents to have their say, the city has launched a public survey and will be hosting an open-house-style event at Fire Station No. 1 on Dixon Drive on Oct. 20, 2025.
“We want to hear from residents about what fire safety means to them and how we can continue to meet the needs of our growing community,” said fire Chief John Whelan. “Your input will help ensure our services remain responsive, effective and aligned with community expectations.”
The plan will tackle assessments for both current and future delivery of services, providing a 10-year roadmap and strategy for fire protection and emergency services across the municipality, added city staff.
Residents looking to have their say can take part in the survey at GetInvolved.QuinteWest.ca – or pick up paper copies at Quinte West City Hall on Creswell Drive in Trenton or at the Frankford Municipal Office. The survey is open until Oct. 20.
The open house is also set for Oct. 20 at the fire hall from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Staff said this will be a drop-in, open-house-style event where residents can learn more about the plan, meet first-responders and weigh in on priorities in-person.
All the input gathered will be used to finalize the master-plan, which is expected to be complete and go before council for approval in early 2026.
The city also posts plan updates online.
