
A 24-year-old from Picton is facing impaired driving charges after being stopped during a RIDE program in Prince Edward County.
According to OPP, officers with the Prince Edward County detachment were conducting a RIDE check on Hwy. 49 around 2 a.m. on Oct. 9, 2025, when they administered a roadside alcohol screening test on a novice driver.
Police said the driver was arrested and taken to the detachment for further testing.
As a result of the investigation, police said he has been charged with operation while impaired by alcohol, operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus), and novice driver – blood alcohol concentration above zero.
He was released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Picton on Oct. 22, 2025.
Police said the driver’s licence was suspended for 90 days and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.
