Brighton’s Blue Dragons have done it again and captured the cross-country COSSA championship title.
What’s more, another three times have qualified for OFSAA after the East Northumberland Secondary School (ENSS) team pulled off multiple victories on home turf at Dunnett Orchards earlier this week.
To pull off another overall team win – the team just took the Bay of Quinte championship title – the senior boys took first.
Owen McDougall led the way in first place, followed closely by Sullivan Tait in second, and Nate Boomhouwer in third. Meanwhile, Jack Turner came in fifth, Chase Eddy in sixth, Dawson Dunham in seventh, Ethan McDougall in 17th, Orion Kovacs in 19th, Alex Botting in 35th, and Jonathan Trescher in 47th.
The senior girls took second overall, once again led by Anastasiia Syrovatska in fourth place. Kora Ferguson followed in 11th, Chloe Nichols in 21st, Caris Hennessy in 25th, Josalynn Scott in 26th, Rachel Horton in 38th and Addison Hill in 44th.
The novice girls also conquered COSSA with Layla Delport leading the way in seventh place. Ellie Shutt followed in 11th, Sabrina Baptista in 16th, Nicola Turner in 18th, Jayla Orr in 24th, and Ginny Goolsby in 43rd.
The senior girls and boys and novice girls also qualified for the OFSAA provincial championships, which will be held Nov. 1 in Brampton.
For the junior boys, Charlie Grills took top honours in 11th and Danish and Kuhafa in 12th. Casimir Iwan took 18th, Joshua Haveman 42nd, Maverick Berry 57th, and Tyler Trescher 62nd.
In the junior girls’ division, Raya VanEgmond took 18th, Madelin O’Sullivan 23rd and Lily Hoole 27th.
And for the novice boys, leading the charge again for ENSS in 20th place was Finn Davis. Sawyer Thain followed in 26th, Jackson Doty in 29th and Princeton Fleming in 33rd.
