An attempted murder charge has been laid after what police described as an alleged serious assault with a weapon in Picton last Friday, Oct. 24, 2025.
According to Prince Edward County OPP, last Friday around 11:15 p.m., police responded to a report of an assault with a weapon outside a convenience store on Paul Street.
The victim – a 35-year-old man – was sent to a regional trauma centre with “very serious, but non-life-threatening stab wounds,” said police, in an update, adding that the victim continues to undergo treatment.
During the investigation, police said officers allegedly recovered multiple weapons.
Two people were arrested shortly after the incident with help from the Tyendinaga Police Service, reported OPP.
As a result of the investigation, police said Zachary Larrivee, 20, and Gavin LaFrance, 19, both of Embrun, were both charged with unauthorized possession of a weapon, possession of an imitation weapon for a dangerous purpose, and obstructing justice. Larrivee was further charged with attempted murder, reported police.
None of these charges have been proven in court.
Police said their investigation is still ongoing and is being headed up by members of Prince Edward County OPP, the crime unit and OPP’s forensic identification services.
