Cobourg police say they’ve taken $156,000 worth of drugs off the streets, including potentially 3,790 lethal doses of fentanyl.
According to the Cobourg Police Service, the seizure followed a traffic stop on a vehicle allegedly being driven by an individual wanted on an outstanding warrant at about 12:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 29, 2025.
During the stop, officers allegedly observed a male passenger in possession of a controlled substance, reported police, adding this led to an arrest. Following the arrest, police said they found about 379 grams of suspected fentanyl, 45.64 grams of suspected crystal methamphetamine, and a quantity of cash.
“The amount of fentanyl is equal to a potential 3,790 lethal doses,” said police. “The estimated total street value of the drug seized is approximately $156,200.”
As a result of the investigation, police said the passenger – Kyle Grieder, 39, of the Township of Hamilton – was charged with two counts of possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking, possession of proceeds of crime, and failure to comply with a probation order.
The driver was charged with failing to attend court, reported police.
