Ontario residents aged six months and older can now receive free flu and COVID-19 vaccines at participating pharmacies, public health units and primary care offices across the province.
Health Minister Sylvia Jones says getting immunized is one of the most effective ways to protect families and communities during respiratory illness season. The province is also encouraging people to receive both vaccines at the same time, noting it is safe and can help avoid multiple visits.
Chief Medical Officer of Health Dr. Kieran Moore says staying up to date on flu, COVID-19 and RSV vaccines helps prevent serious illness and hospitalizations. Free RSV immunizations are available to everyone aged 75 and older, as well as to high-risk adults over 60, infants under eight months, high-risk children under two, and pregnant women seeking to protect newborns at birth.
Health officials recommend receiving flu and COVID-19 vaccines each fall to protect against circulating strains. In addition to vaccination, Ontarians are reminded to wash hands often, stay home when sick and maintain proper hygiene to prevent infection.
Residents are encouraged to check with their local provider before booking to confirm vaccine availability. Health information is also available 24 hours a day through Health811 online or by calling 811.
