With total rainfall amounts of 40 to 70 millimetres expected through Friday, Environment Canada has issued a rainfall warning for the eastern portion of Northumberland County and the Belleville and Quinte regions.
The long duration rainfall is expected today (Thursday, Oct. 30) through to Friday, Oct. 31.
Heavy rainfall, with total amounts of 40 to 70 mm and locally higher amounts are possible, say officials.
The rain starts this morning and will continue through Friday evening as a low-pressure system impacts the area.
“The heaviest rain is expected to fall this afternoon through Friday morning,” says Environment Canada.
Officials also note that water will likely pool on roads and in low-lying areas, and that some travel delays are possible. People are encouraged to allow extra time for travel.
Officials stress that people shouldn’t attempt to drive through flooded roadways.
