A Scarborough resident is facing a slew of charges after an alleged incident involving a stolen vehicle that stretched along the highway from Bowmanville into Brighton, says Northumberland OPP.
According to OPP, on Oct. 31, 2025, at about 4:15 a.m., officers responded to a report of a stolen passenger vehicle travelling eastbound on Hwy. 401 from Bowmanville.
The driver allegedly failed to stop for multiple OPP cruisers and exited the highway before coming to a stop in the County Road 30 Municipality of Brighton area, where officers then safely took the accused into custody, said police.
The vehicle was reported stolen from the Greater Toronto Area on Oct. 29, 2025, said OPP.
As a result of the investigation, police said a 30-year-old Scarborough resident was charged with possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000, possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5,000, three counts of dangerous operation, two counts of flight from a peace officer, and four counts of failure to comply with a release order.
None of these charges have been proven in court. The accused will appear in Cobourg court at a later date.
