Police say they’ve seized illicit cannabis valued at more than $1.6 million after a warrant was executed at a Boes Road location and greenhouse in Brighton.
On Thursday, Nov. 6, 2025, the OPP’s organized crime enforcement bureau issued a release saying its investigation resulted in the arrest of five individuals and the alleged seizure of 580 illicit cannabis plants and more than 1,100 pounds of dried illicit cannabis bud.
According to police, the warrant was executed on Oct. 27 by the OPP’s provincial joint forces cannabis enforcement team, the emergency response team and members of the Northumberland and Peterborough OPP detachments, and Peterborough-Northumberland street crime units.
Police said the raid was “at a location on Boes Road” in Brighton, and the location consisted of a greenhouse area, which allegedly contained illicit cannabis plants in different stages of growth.
The combined value of the illegal cannabis seized is estimated at more than $1.6 million, reported OPP.

As a result of the investigation, police said five people were all charged with two offences under the Cannabis Act, specifically, unlawfully, cultivate, propagate or harvest a cannabis plant, and possession for the purpose of distribution.
The accused include Junjiang Ke, 51, of Markham, Minghua Xue, 63, of Toronto, Nenmei Chen, 62, of Markham, Qiao Quan Chen, 38, of Scarborough, and Yongzhong Ke, 77, of Markham.
