The latest permit stats are in for Brighton, and while building figures continue to slow some in comparison to this time last year, dollar values continue to soar.
According to the Municipality of Brighton’s October permit record, a total of 13 permits were issued versus 14 this time last year. However, in terms of construction value, the municipality was up about $5.8 million versus $4.4 million last October.
As for overall figures so far this year, 138 permits – which translates to almost $120 million – have been issued. Meanwhile, around this time last year that year-to-date permit figure stood at 152 but translated to roughly $50.3 million.
In other words, while some figures have dropped slightly, under dollar values, the municipality is still significantly up year-over-year.
According to the latest stats, the municipality is up to tune of about $69.3 million. This figure has grown from about $67.9 million as previously reported after the release of September figures in October.
There have been some larger totals in this latest summary for specific builds like a $2.5-million permit for a “mixed-use building.” The permit record also shows a $1.5-million single-dwelling unit in another instance.
Under dwelling figures, there was only one addition cited in the rural area in October, making for a year-to-date total of 43 (32 urban and 11 rural dwellings.) In comparison, this time last year, there were four additions under dwellings, and the year-to-date figure sat at 42.
In other housing stats, five is the year-to-date figure under additional residential units
In comparison to recent months, Brighton reported a total of 17 permits issued in September, 15 permits in July and 16 in June.
November statistics will be released in December by the municipality.
