A routine traffic stop by Northumberland OPP on Hwy. 401 in the Township of Hamilton resulted in the alleged seizure of a weapon and multiple charges.
On Nov. 25, 2025, at about 12:15 a.m., officers reported stopping a westbound vehicle after observing it following another car too closely. Further investigation allegedly revealed the driver, a 36-year-old man from Orleans, was breaching several release orders and during a search of the vehicle, police said they discovered an edged weapon.
The man was charged with unauthorized possession of a weapon and three counts of failing to comply with release orders. He was held for bail and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cobourg, said police.
