Northumberland OPP has charged two residents following a fraud investigation in the Municipality of Trent Hills.
Police said they started looking into the matter on Oct. 15, 2025, after receiving a report that a person engaged to provide home support had used financial information to make unauthorized purchases.
Officers conducted a six-week investigation, which led to arrests on Nov. 25, 2025, reported OPP.
As a result of the investigation, police said a 33-year-old woman from the Township of Stirling-Rawdon faces charges of fraudulent use of credit card data and fraud under $5,000. A 35-year-old man from Stirling was also charged with fraudulent use of credit card data, fraud under $5,000, and possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000, said police.
Both are scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Cobourg in January 2026.
