Eight people are facing charges after an alleged seizure of suspected cocaine and firearms in Tyendinaga Mohawk Territory, say police.
OPP said its East Region community street crime unit (CSCU) and the Tyendinaga Police Service started a joint investigation earlier this fall, resulting in warrants executed Friday, Nov. 28, 2025.
Police said last Friday, CSCU officers, with help from OPP’s tactics and rescue unit, the emergency response team, canine units, crisis negotiators, Prince Edward County OPP’s crime unit and Tyendinaga police, executed warrants at two locations on Old Hwy. 2 and another on Huron Brant Drive.
Following the raids, officers allegedly seized nearly 10 grams of suspected cocaine, multiple firearms and two sets of brass knuckles, along with items associated with drug-trafficking and more than $2,400 in cash, reported OPP.
As a result of the investigation, police said a 25-year-old Bradford resident was charged with obstructing a peace officer, possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking, possession of a prohibited device or ammunition for a dangerous purpose, and possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5,000.
Further, police said a 42-year-old resident of Tyendinaga Mohawk Territory was charged with three counts of careless storage of a firearm, three counts of unauthorized possession of a firearm, three counts of knowledge of unauthorized possession of a firearm, and possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm with ammunition.
Another two people – one 18-year-old from Newmarket and a 22-year-old Toronto resident – were charged with possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking, possession of a prohibited device or ammunition for a dangerous purpose, possession of an imitation weapon for a dangerous purpose, and possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5,000.
Another 47-year-old Deseronto resident was also charged with possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking, and possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5,000.
Finally, police said three others – a 24-year-old Edmonton, Alta., and a 62-year-old and 55-year-old both of Tyendinaga Mohawk Territory – were all charged with possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking.
None of these charges have been proven in court.
